Formula E has added a second batch of races to its 2020/21 calendar that will include the first visit to a permanent race track in the series’ history.

The first-ever Valencia E-Prix will take place at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in April using a new configuration designed specifically for Formula E.

The electric series has used the circuit in the past for pre-season testing, with testing for 2020/21 taking place there during December last year.

Along with the announcement of additional dates, Formula E confirmed it will not be visiting France for the Paris E-Prix due to health and safety concerns arising from Covid-19.

Following the double-header in Saudi Arabia that will include the first Formula E night race, the series will head back to Europe for the Rome E-Prix at the beginning of April.

The Valencia round will follow while Monaco will host its first motor sport event on the streets of the Principality since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

Formula E then heads to Morocco for the fifth race in Marrakesh before flying over to South America for back-to-back races in Chile and the Santiago E-Prix at the beginning of June.

Originally scheduled races in Seoul and Sanya have not received new dates but were confirmed as still postponed rather than being cancelled outright. A decision on both events will be made later in Spring.

Possible dates for the postponed London, New York, Berlin and Mexico City E-Prix were not mentioned.

“We are committed to delivering a global calendar that befits our first season as a World Championship,” Formula E CEO Jamie Reigle said.

“We are working closely with all our partners across teams, manufacturers, sponsors, broadcasters and host cities to adapt to external circumstances and ensure the health and safety of everyone involved.

“We will do so while maintaining what fans love most about Formula E: unpredictable racing, iconic locations and the blend of the real and virtual worlds, all underpinned by our race for better futures.”
