How Russell reacted to Verstappen - Mercedes rumours at Silverstone
George Russell says his chances of leaving Mercedes at the end of the year are "exceptionally low"
How’s the season going so far?
It’s been a difficult season so far for the #5 car. Before Austin we had finished only one race out of five, so that says it all.
High point?
Still Le Mans I would say. Basically we were there and had the pace to win the race. So it’s something we need to be happy with and we have to be proud of.
Low point?
Also Le Mans, because at the end we simply didn’t make it to finally bring the win home.
Who (other than yourself!) is driving particularly well at the moment?
Séb [Buemi] is doing a very good job, particularly in our car he is always quick, doesn’t make big mistakes and you can always rely on him.
Where would you like to take the World Endurance Championship if you could race anywhere?
Monza would be interesting.
Describe the challenge of Le Mans in three words.
Not making mistakes!
One car (other than the one you’re currently driving), one circuit – what would you choose?
Super Formula at Suzuka.
Kazuki Nakajima at Suzuka in Super Formula, 2015
Your greatest race?
Fuji 2012 in the WEC.
The worst car you’ve driven on the road and on track?
What do you still want to achieve that you haven’t yet?
Winning Le Mans.
The best advice you’ve been given?
I really don’t know anymore.
What would you be if you weren’t a professional driver?
To be honest, I cannot think of it. Even if I wasn’t driving I think I would still work in motor sport.
