Cars in Books, March 1974

Sir,

I haven’t my copy of John Fothergill’s “Three Inns” or whatever the title is by me at the moment so I can only speak from memory but I think that the reason why Fothergill was at the launching party for the 3.1/2-litre Bentley where the “timid little man” road test occurred was because he then ran whatever the hotel was called at Ascot where the launching or road tests took place. I think that if you turn up the book you will find that my recollection is right but I should be interested to know.

Littlebourne William Court

[Yes, that is so and I should have remembered Mr. Fothergill’s move to Ascot referred to in his later book. Mr. T. G. Moore, who was proprietor of MOTOR SPORT at the time, has also drawn my attention to this. —ED.]
