The seaside town of Mar del Plata twice held rounds of the Temporada series during the 1960s on the streets around the town’s golf course. Both events drew large crowds but were marred by fatalities. A 17-year-old photographer was killed in 1966 when Henri Grandsire lost control following suspension failure. Safety fears a year later proved well-founded for local driver Carlos José Martín and two spectators lost their lives in separate accidents. The second heat had to be abandoned due to the ensuing riot.
