Originally opened as a 1-mile oval, it had been shortened to 3/8 of a mile by the tme NASCAR's senior series visited during the late 1960s. Its 14,000 capacity made Oxford Plains the largest sorting facility in Maine. Ownership changed in in 2012 and the direction of racing has recently been changed to anti-clockwise.
