Organised by Atlético de Rafaela, the 500 millas Argentinas was held on a temporary course from 1926 until 1951. The original iteration was a rectangular 15-mile combination of the local dirt roads with four 90-degree bends. The layout was gradually shortened with a final 5.435-mile version used from 1947. Juan Manuel Fangio used a Lago-Talbot T26C to win a Formule Libre event on Christmas Eve of 1950.
