On the same day as the 1934 German Grand Prix a lesser race was held on a tight street circuit in Vichy in central France. The qualifying heats were won by Count Trossi’s Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo Tipo-B “P3” and Whitney Straight’s Maserati 8CM, the American having survived a wild spin at the end of the opening lap. Philippe Etancelin initially led the final in another 8CM before his brakes faded. That allowed Trossi to lead and he held off Straight’s late challenge by just five seconds. The race was not repeated.
