R16 Round Britain Run

A Renault 16GL. was recently driven round the coast roads of Britain, a distance of 4,200 miles, at an average of 40 m.p.h., to test the new Veedol 20w/50 oil, of which it required two pints. It was refuelled from jerry-cans by two girls from Gem Petroleum, who met it at predetermined points in a Vauxhall 101 estate car, the R16 giving over 30 m.p.g. The only trouble was a broken throttle-cable spring, quickly replaced. The crew were I. Smith, D. Bailey and J. Butcher.
