Sir,
We were interested to read a letter in your last issue criticising that great British sportsman, Rob Walker, for allowing his name to be used to promote Ford of America products. I would like your reader to know that Jaguar Cars Ltd. were aware of this operation and, far from doing us harm, it has in fact been of benefit to our promotional activities in the U.S.A. Both we at the factory and the members of our Organisation in our subsidiary company in New York—Jaguar Cars Inc.—are of the opinion that the selection of Jaguar, as one of the World’s top prestige cars, is a very real tribute to the merits of our products, particularly in the sphere of silence which is one of the principal attributes of the latest American cars.

From the contact we have had with Rob Walker on this project, it is quite clear to this Company that he made very certain that the promotion was not to the detriment of this Company before agreeing to participate in this scheme.
