THE first VSCC race meeting of 1973 takes place at Silverstone on April 28th, starting at 12.15 p.m. There will be the usual One Hour High Speed Trial, in the best JCC/MCC tradition, followed by the exciting 15-lap All-Comers’ Scratch Race for historic and p.v.t. racing cars, and the 10-lap Itala and Napier Trophies Race for Edwardian and vintage racing cars. These will be supported by a series of live-lap handicaps for pre-war cars of many types. So once again all the highly enjoyable sights, sounds and scents will abound, catching something of the atmosphere of old Brooklands. Points Will be scored at the meeting, by any, pre-war car finishing in the first three in the races, towards this year’s Moto tt Sputa Brooklands Memorial Trophy contest, which carries the usual cash prizes. (It is confined to pre-war cars so that the winners will be those which could have competed at the Weybridgc Track or may -actually have done so.) Non-VSCC members are admitted as paying spectators to the racing and if you have never seen the older cars in action you might well give yourself a treat on April 28th. But motoring dogs will have to stay at home or go to kennels, because they will not be admitted. Incidentally, in case any intending VSCC competitors have forgotten, entries close on April 5th.
