The first issue of a quarterly News Sheet has been published by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, founded last year as a lobby organisation “to uphold the freedom to continue the use of all mechanically-propelled road vehicles’, to keep subscriber organisations informed of its progress. It reports that, with the exception of continuing discussions with the DVLC about the re-issuing of old registration numbers, there is “nothing of concern on the UK legislative front at the moment”.

More than 300 teams of 26 nationalities, with 56 differant makes of car, will take part in the Mille Miglia retrospective regularity run on April 28-30, using the traditional Brescia-Rome-Brescia route.

Derek Green (Hatch House, Hartley Wintney, Hampshire) is hoping to revitalise the Invicta Register, this time under the umbrella of the Lagonda Club, and would like to hear from owners; he has already arranged a parking area and parade at the VSCC Silverstone race meeting on April 15.

An informal gathering open to anyone arriving in pre-1956 transport, the 5th Great British Picnic takes place on Sunday May 28 at the Old Warden Aerodrome, Biggleswade, where the Shuttleworth Collection will put on a de Havilland flying display. Registration fees vary between £3.75 and £8.50 according to the type of vehicle driven, and forms are available from KG Anderson, 341 Reigate Road, Epsom Downs, Surrey KT17 3LT.

Free with February’s issue of The Courier from the Triumph Sports Six Club comes the bi-annual supplement Turning Circle, on this occasion devoted to competition and tuning. TSSC Membership Secretary is Trudi Squibbs, 121b St Mary’s Road, Market Harborough, Leicestershire LE16 7DT.

STD Register’s annual dinner in Evesham was well-attended, and in an attempt to drum up even more interest a 47-page booklet about the Register’s aims and activities is available to anyone interested. This year’s fixtures include a Spring Rally in Oxfordshire on April 30 and the Wolverhampton Weekend of July 1-2. Secretary is Bill Barrott of Worrell House, West Street, Brighton, Sheffield S19 6EP.

Citroen Car Club celebrates its 40th anniversary with a dinner/dance at the Abbey Hotel in Great Malvern on April 15, and with a 70-page issue of the glossy and well-presented Citroinian. Membership Secretary is David Saville of 49 Mungo Park Way, Orpington, Kent BR5 4EE.
