Mason backs dragster plan

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has agreed to be patron for the Allard Chrysler dragster restoration project at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. The aim is to have the 1961 dragster running again this year and Mason will be one of the demonstration drivers once the restoration task is complete.

Mason is very keen to see the methanol-burning Chrysler Hemi-engined machine restored. “Sydney Allard is a legend in British motor sport and restoring his dragster will be a fitting tribute,” said Mason, a trustee of the museum. “I’m really pleased to be a part of this exciting project.”
