8414 LANCIA M.C. DRIVING TESTS, THRUXTON (June 28111)

A series of well-marked-out tests were contested by 66 cars in the Lancia M.C.’s Inter-Club contest at Thruxton, held in anything but June weather. It seems each of the one-make clubs concerned, had chosen a test, the Allard O.C. surprisingly selecting one calling for a quick slam into reverse gear ! Lancias, with their good steering lock, and Fiat 500s, because they are so compact, were able to cope well with the obstacles (one open Fiat 500 was competing). But the Morgan 4/4 Club’s ” A” team, comprising Peter Morgan himself, T. A. Parkes and G. J. Stallard, won the day with 2,210 points, against the 2,114 points scored by the next best team, the M.G.C.C.’s entry of 13. D. Frost, J. Shove and J. Tyman.

‘rhe individual best score reflected Morgan glory—L. Yarrington took the Torino Trophy in his 4/4 and runner-up was G. J. Stallard, also in a 4/4, who gained the Alperton Award.—W. B. oe
