The 36th B.A.R.C. Members’ Meeting (one of the two 1959 Goodwood events not qualifying for the Motor Sport Brooklands Memorial Trophy contest), which was held in blustery but dry conditions on Saturday, June 27th, followed its usual pattern of five- and 10-lap scratch, and five-lap handicap races.

Star performers in a day devoid of serious incident were Lawrence (Morgan), Young (Parson), Derisley (Lotus 7) and Levett (Scorpion 1,172), all of whom scored victories, and Williams (Lotus Elite), Spence (A.C.-Bristol) and Marriott (Sprite), who performed with distinction in overcoming penalties imposed by the handicapper. Lawrence increased his lead in the “Freddy Dixon” Trophy contest by five points.
