Comparative tyre life

Sir,

Same car (1958 Borgward T.S.) same driver (self) same roads (Spain, France and U.K.) Different tyres—Dunlops (rear) burst at 9,000; Michelin “X” (rear) discarded at 42,000. The only other difference being that for a proportion of the Michelin “X” mileage I was towing a caravan. The Dunlops had no towing, and were on the car from the factory so must have been the correct tyres.

No further comment seems neceessary.
