The VCC Esso loW Rally takes place on September 24-26th. The first veteran car rally on the Island since 1963, the mileage will be 120, supported by social events at which Earl Mountbatten is the Guest of Honour. Details from: S. C. A 1936, Austin 10 Ripley Sports -Special supplied to the Derby Police that year has come to light in Ashby-de-la-Zouch in very original condition, after being in the hands of its last owner from 1938 to 1974. It should now be back on the road, owned by a Nottingham reader. In America a brochure has been issued by the Trumbull Mfg. Co., about Trumbull-Pendleton cars, of which only six were built and of which all that remains is a radiator badge. The class winners in the recent Western Mail Cavalcade were N. Lawson’s 1905 Star, 13. Larkin-Smith’s 1927 Lagonda, R. 13urch’s 1935 Rolls-Royce, R. Dean’s 328 BMW, and R. Withers’ 1930 Essex. The most unusual vehicle present was judged to be A. Broughton’s 1928 Morris Commercial London taxi. The VMCC has its Saundersfoot Run on Sept. 18th/19th, this being the 21st of the series, so that the original route is to be used, and an ambitious Bristol-Land’s End Run on Oct. 2nd/3rd. Vintage vehicles are asked to support the 6,000 Locomotive Association Open Day at Hereford, on Sept. 26th.
