Morgans at Snetterton

Sir,

I must begin by declaring an interest: I was team manager of the MSCC team of Morgan Plus Eights in the recent 24hr race held at Snetterton, The team finished 3rd overall in distinguished company, but the purpose of this letter is not to congratulate ourselves on that result in itself; rather I seek to draw attention to the performance of the Morgan marque in the race. The motoring weeklies seemingly overlooked the facts that Morgan Plus Eights were:—

Third overall.

Fifth overall.

First sports-car team overall.

Second sports-car team overall.

First truly British car overall.

First single car team —

Commanders Cup winners.

This is a considerable achievement for cars which are running to Production Sports Regulations and which trace their ancestry clearly back through the 70 years of the Morgan marque. It was gratifying that Peter Morgan was present at Snetterton to see Morgans compete so effectively. It would be disappointing if the achievement went unsung by the motoring press.

I hope that Motor Sport’s coverage of the 24 hour race will give proper recognition of the Morgan performance. Of course, you may not share the view I have expressed, and if so perhaps I might express my view through your correspondence section.
