It's Maranello, not Michael

Sir,

I was appalled, once more, at all the sycophantic adulation laid at the door of Michael Schumacher on the occasion of his victory in the French Grand Prix. Don’t misunderstand me, I consider Herr Schumacher to be quite the best driver since Senna but when will we twig that it is Ferrari, every bit as much as its star driver, that deserves these plaudits? Witness if you will Irvine’s four podiums from six races completed. Eddie is a fine number two but I don’t think even he would say such results come courtesy of anything other than a fine car.

So come on, F1 reporters and commentators; you’ve been knocking Ferrari for decades, is it not now time for a little credit where its long overdue?

I am yours etc,

Guiseppe Verdi, Sassuolo, Italy
