Collins Aston seeks new home

A £1m estimate has been set on a prime Aston Martin when it goes to auction at Christie’s sale at Pebble Beach, California, in August. Owned and driven by Peter Collins, the DB3S won the 1953 Goodwood Nine-Hour race and contested Le Mans the same year. These 3-litre twin-plug six-cylinder cars, amongst the most evocative of Fifties sports-racers with their distinctive scalloped noses and fine competition history, are rare beasts with only 10 built, and bidding for this example with such a famous provenance should be strong.
