Le Mans Legends, Le Mans

June 17

Gareth Burnett and Gary Pearson each earned victories as a brace of Le Mans Legends races provided the warm-up to the 24-hour sportscar marathon.

Gareth Burnett (Talbot 105 Sports) and Luke Stevens (Alta Sports) traded the lead in the Pre-war race, both taking turns at the front, and either of them could have won it as they crossed the line almost side-by-side (pictured right with Stevens on the left). However, Burnett won by just 63-thousandths of a second, with Bob Gilbert’s Bentley third.

Gary Pearson won a lively Post-war race in his Jaguar C-type, but was chased all the way by Joe Colasacco (Alfa Romeo 3000CM). Pearson always looked in control, but never built up much of a lead over the Alfa Romeo, which was threateningly close behind.

Colasacco spun the Alfa at Mulsanne Corner on the last lap, but was still able to clinch second ahead of Stuart Graham’s Austin Healey 100S.
