Time for gardening leave?

Sir,

After watching Lewis Hamilton’s interview with the BBC after Monaco, I was reminded of Jackie Stewart’s interview of Ayrton Senna where he brought up the fact that Senna had been in more incidents than all the other champions combined (you can view it on YouTube). Ayrton was incensed, just as Lewis was post-Monaco. And this was before the three incidents involving Lewis in his 12-lap Canadian Grand Prix.

Some may rave about Hamilton’s racing instinct and thrilling manoeuvres, but I fear we are witnessing a driver with a tremendous sense of self-entitlement who feels, like Senna did, that he deserves to be on the top step of the podium. Perhaps a multi-race ban would give him (and his team) the opportunity to gain some much-needed perspective. Sean Martin, Vancouver, Canada
