We are frequently asked what constitutes a veteran, Edwardian or vintage car. It is generally accepted that a veteran is a vehicle made prior to 1905, that “Edwardian” covers the period 1905 to 1914 inclusive, and that cars made from 1915 to 1930 inclusive are in the vintage category. There is no official ruling on the matter, but the V.C.C. and V.S.C.C. agree with these limits. Our own, “Veteran Types” series embraces veteran and Edwardian cars and early vintage racing cars under its convenient heading, as this was the intention of the originator of these well-liked contributions. It is significant that even the daily Press is getting into the habit of referring to old cars by the correct terms. Thus, the Daily Express of November 8th, relating how rever ion to his old car caused the police to suspect that “Dr. Canning” was, in fact, Alick Canning Kostanda, reported this car as “vintage Rolls-Royce.”
