A novel electric fire

Sir,
I thought the enclosed photograph of the latest styling for electric fires might be of interest to you.

True to the tradition of the breed, this hand-built one-off model had a rather high initial cost, the materials alone being in excess of £15. The high fuel consumption is compensated by the efficiency, reliability and low maintenance costs (one tin “Silvo” in three months), whilst the owner enjoys the privilege of an unusual machine.

Although there was some initial trouble caused through overheating this was soon overcome and the machine is now in regular daily use.

May my lords at Derby forgive me.

R. Jeffries.
Leicester.

[Splendid! Has anyone done anything similar, using hot-water as the heating element?—Ed.]
