I would be grateful if any readers can throw any light on the history of my registration number, PS 1.
It was issued in 1904 by the Zetland County Council (now Shetland Islands Council) to one William Whittall, 7 Whippendell Road, Watford, Herts. His vehicle was a 4 1/2 h.p. Peugeot quadricycle.
My council records cease when, in 1912, W. G. James, 14 Mortimer Street, Regent Street, London, transferred the number from a 20 h.p. Rothwell.
When I was able to bring PS 1 “back home” in 1976 its then owner could recall acquiring the number with a 1938 Aston Martin in Edinburgh about 1958.
This leaves blank the years between 1912 and 1958. Any information, or being a professional photographer the loan of any photographs would be especially appreciated especially any similar Peugeot quadricycle.
