Pininfarina Jaguar XJ Spider

Those readers who failed to fight their way into the NEC Motor Show missed a treat on the Pininfarina stand.  This Jaguar XJ Spider, based on the XJ-S floor pan and running gear, continues the traditional rounded family lines of the D-type, E-type and XJ-13 in a 1980’s fashion. It ought to be Jaguar’s open successor to the E-type, but BL styling chief David Bache held out little hope of this, though Jaguar did provide the XJ-S base car and he did spend much of the second preview day on the stand.  Pininfarini describe it as “no mere styling exercise but a proposal for a model open to short-run development.” We suggest that Jaguar fans petition BL now!
