Sir, Your “Looking Back” feature in the November MOTOR SPORT mentions a cabin monoplane, G-AADG, owned by a friend of Mr. Pritchard of Hereford. I referred to the British Civil Air Register, 1928/30, published by Air Britain which gives a pitted history of all aircraft from G-AAAA to G-AAZZ. The following is the text of the entry for G-AADG: ..G-AADG. Monocoupe 60. Imported from USA by H. E. Hamer and registered on 6/12/28. Its 60 h.p. Velie radial engine was replaced by an Armstrong Siddeley

Genet II of 80 h.p. Sold to R. W. H. Knight at Hereford in 2/31. Last owned by Anthony 0. Humble-Smith at Maylands (Rumford) from 9/3/38. Withdrawn from use on expiry of C. of A. on 29/4/39 and dismantled. Moved to Gatwick in September 1939 for wartime storage and finally broken up at Gatwick in 1947.”

It would seem that the fatal Middle East trip mentioned by you may have been made in another aircraft, unless the Monocoupe was eventually found and brought back to this country. London, SW20 D. GILBERT
