AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX
TO GIVE Johnny Dumfries a send-oft in his final race for Lotus (above) his mechanics donned the tartan. Dumfries finished sixth. Keke Rosberg in his last race (top right) went out on a high note, dominating the first 63 laps until stopped by a puncture. Alan Jones (bottom right) had a good run at home until his engine let go. Alain Prost expresses his delight (below) on the first ‘back to back Championship since 1960 and his 25th GP win. A worthy and gracious champion, Prost acknowledges the cheers, below left. Nigel Mansell (left) looks pensive before the start; he drove a copy book race to lose the Championship through an exploding tyre. A tv cameraman relaxes (right) and nobody could begrudge him his rest for the television coverage of the race was outstanding.
