Silverstone results

Congratulations to Motor Sport reader Mervyn Pritchard of Nantwich, whose correctly completed postcard was the first picked out of a substantial pile that poured in for last month’s ‘Win a Day at Silverstone’ contest.

The correct answers were: Alain Prost’s last GP win as at Jerez in 1990; Mark Blundell has been full-time test driver for McLaren-Honda this year; six manufacturers supported this year’s BTCC, so you could have chosen any three from BMW, Toyota, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Nissan and Mazda; Paul Newman is the actor with a stake in the Indycar team for whom Nigel Mansell will drive in 1993.

Mervyn has already enjoyed his prize, a place in the Motor Sport team in the JWPDC Pro-Media Celebrity Challenge at Silverstone.

Motor Sport was unable to repeat its outright victory of 1992, although Formula 3000 racer Richard Dean – signed up as our star turn – took individual honours in the autotest event, but the trophy has remained in Standard House, thanks to the efforts of Motoring News.

Once again, the event was a great success. We just think it should become a monthly beano, rather than the present annual affair…
