Tasman series draws in Brits

Nine British drivers will be on the grid in New Zealand this winter in the Tasman Cup Revival series for Formula 5000s. As well as races in New Zealand, starting at Manfeild on November 14/15, the schedule takes in two Bruce McLaren celebration events in January and two races in Australia in March.

The cars will race at the Phillip Island Classic meeting on March 20/21 and then support the Australian GP in Melbourne a week later. The back-to-back McLaren events will be at the new Hampton Downs track and Pukekohe.

Series regulars Frank and Judy Lyons and son Mick will return with two Lolas and the Eagle FA74. Mark Dwyer, the Melbourne winner in ’09, will run his Lola T332, while first-time New Zealand visitors include Peter Dunn (March 73A), Neil Glover (Lola T330), Daryl Taylor (Chevron B28), Greg Thornton (Surtees TS11) and Mike Whatley (Surtees TS8).
