Points as of October 12, 2009
1. Jenson Button Formula 1 246pts
As we closed for press Jenson could only be overhauled in the points if either Franchitti or Briscoe were to win both remaining F3 Euroseries and Formula Renault 3.5 races! What are the chances? The 2009 World Champion’s fifth place in Brazil was enough to wrap up the F1 title and should win him the Gold Star too.
2. Dario Franchitti IRL/Grand-Am/ALMS 215pts
Dario’s IRL title win and latest race victory at Homestead has just given him the edge over Briscoe. The Scot is the only BRDC member to score points in three categories this year: IRL, Grand-Am (Daytona 24 Hours) and ALMS (Petit Le Mans).
3. Ryan Briscoe IRL/Grand-Am 214pts
4. Adam Carroll A1GP 174pts
Carroll could have scored better if the Australian A1GP race had gone ahead. Now he’ll have to wait until 2010 for a drive and to challenge for the Gold Star again.
5. David Brabham ALMS/Le Mans 171pts
6. Mark Webber F1 165pts
7. Rob Huff WTCC 148pts
8. Andy Priaulx WTCC 146pts
9. Lewis Hamilton F1 140pts
10. Richard Westbrook Porsche SC/FIA GT2 125pts
