Chapparal 2F with Texas licence plate

Intrigued by a Texas reg on the Chaparral 2F (see p133), we asked our in-house historian Doug Nye to shed some light on it. He comments that while the car drove on public roads during the 1967 Targa Florio, it was generally towed to race meetings behind a GMC truck. He adds: “Really, the Texas plate was a Jim Hall way of waving his flag. He has always been a proud Texan first – and, some way behind, a proud American second.”
