Petrol rationing has been withdrawn in France and in Australia. Earl Howe, speaking at the Jubilee Dinner of the C.S.M.A., which has a membership of 30,000, said that in as many as ten countries abroad there is no rationing of petrol. Some of these were nations defeated in the last war. We won the war, but our rationing is blamed on shortage of dollars (which did not seem so serious as at first thought), shortage of tankers (but there are now plenty from Norway), lack of storage space and lack of refineries.
