I read with great interest the article on Austin Twenties in the December issue. I also suffer from “Twenty mania” owning three six-cylinder Mayfair limousines dated 1935, 36, and 37. Unfortunately only the 1936 Car is running and on the road and has been since I bought it in 1969. In the past it has been used as my only means of everyday transport. I have taken the car to Eire once and Luxembourg twice in recent years and five years ago toured Devon with a 14 ft caravan in tow.
The car has always proved reliable and unlike John Ole the few spares I have needed were fairly easily obtained. Hopefully I will be able to run a “Twenty” for a long time to come and certainly would never consider going over to owning a mere Rolls-Royce.
