Aurora Races On

The British Formula One Racing Championship will continue in 1980 with backing from Aurora AFX, producers of model motor racing sets. The series of 15 races will have a prize fund of £200,000 and cater for Formula One of Formula Two cars manufactured after December 31st 1975.

Turbocharged engines and ground-effect skirts are banned and only Goodyear tyres of a specified size and construction may be used, As the Aurora teams rely on cast-off Grand Prix machinery, the effect of the ban on ground effects seems illogical and will leave most 1979 cars redundant at the end of their Grand Prix careers.
