Group C rules stabilised

Following a period of uncertainty after precipitate rule changes threatened to jeopardise the continued invoivement of the British TWR Jaguar team in the World Sportscar Championship, the sport’s governing body has had second thoughts and produced more generally acceptable technical rules which will last through until 1991.

In particular, FISA has reversed the sudden decision taken last September to introduce a flat-bottom chassis rule for 1988. This was the rule which particularly concerned the Jaguar team, which is also now particularly pleased that the use of pump fuel is mandatory from the start of 1987, outlawing the toluene additives which team manager Tom Walkinshaw claims gives Porsche a significant advantage.
