HA Formula 1 World Championship Review FOCA 1989. Distributed by Duke Marketing Limited, PO Box 46, Douglas, Isle of Man. Running time — 170 mins. £29.90 incl. pC9I)

This video has to be essential viewing for all Formula One fans, for nothing of the 1989 season is missed. With informed commentary from Bob Constanduros and Tony Jardine, the video opens with a rundown of the teams and drivers in Brazil, the first race of the season.

The coverage of each race is extended and includes much footage that has not been seen before. This aspect, together with the inclusion of interesting interviews and the benefit of hindsight, make this official video a pleasing production. The viewer is updated with the results and championship positions regularly so that a race-by-race assessment can be made. If there is one criticism, it is the fact that the leading cars and drivers are the subject of most of the attention while the midfield, tail-end Charlies and pre-qualifiers are hardly worth a mention, and that is often where there are good stories. WPK For those who do not want such a detailed resume of the season, K-tel’s Duel of the Champions is a very adequate substitute. With a running time of 58 mins, it is much shorter than the FIA version, but even so, all the memorable moments of each race are covered with the World

Championship placings shown after every four races. Simon Taylor, BBC Radio’s motoring correspondent, provides an authoritative commentary.
