Of the many positive things to come from the agreement between the BRDC and Octagon, what delights me the most is that Brands Hatch will retain its classic track layout
As a spectator there since I was a little boy, it has always been a magical place. Nowhere else allowed you so close to the action, and let you see so much of it from almost wherever you stood.
Now, as a club racer, Brands, for me, is the complete racing experience; fast, difficult and challenging. Finesse and commitment is everything at this tack.
On the rare occasions that I have driven each corner well enough to put in a good lap, Brands Hatch makes me feel like a racing driver in a way that surpasses any other circuit — with the exception of Oulton Park — in the country.
This agreement is wonderful news for the higher echelons of British motorsport, given that Britain is the centre of Formula One. But importantly, it helps us ensure that the National and grass-roots scenes in this country continue to be one of the healthiest in the world.
