HGPCA drum up support

A series of races for drum-braked sports-cars has been announced by the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association.

Building on the success of the race at last season’s Silverstone Historic Festival, the HGPCA will promote a five-event series across Europe, including a race at the Nurburgring Oldtimer meeting.

“The Silverstone entry included the reappearance of marques like Allard and OSCA which had not been seen for a while,” said Sheridan Thyrtne, who will co-ordinate the new series on behalf of the HGPCA. “The huge support and enthusiasm of the competitors led to demand for more races in 2002.”

The programme will start with the VSCC event at Donington (June 8/9), to be followed by Hodcenheim (June 29/30) and the Niirburgring (August 10/11). The International Historic Festival at Oulton (August 25/26) and a proposed race at Spa will complete the calendar.
