Service from a Ford Escort

Sir,

How I enjoyed your two contradictory letters in November’s issue (Mr. Webb— Anne Cosgrove) that I am prompted to put pen to paper. Having just completed 50,000 valve crashing and thrashed miles in my 1972 Ford Escort 1300 with 100% reliability yet Anne Cosgrove condemns British cars; surely she’s joking? Perhaps if she had to adjust the clutch on her car she would have second thoughts and she may even notice what a mechanic’s nightmare the Citroen GS looks under the bonnet.

As I “tear” along on proper predictable suspension I regularly “blow off” much more expensive imparts. Surely foreign cars are all right in foreign countries. Anne Cosgrove, do you know how much a headlight glass costs for a GS Citroen?

Thank you for an excellent all-round magazine.
