FISA finances

Sir,

I recently received a very glossy brochure giving details of next year’s British Grand Prix. I was staggered to see that the advanced charge for admission on race day has been increased by 67% to £30. There was no comment or explanation for the huge increase, which is out of proportion to any projected inflation.

This increase calls into question the financial structure of the FIA World Championship. Is the successful British event financing or subsidising other less well attended events? Is it subsidising the huge hospitality bonanza which is now very conspicuous? Are we moving towards the spectator-less event?
