Reports In Brief, January 2003

Ford Escorts totally dominated the Killarney Historic Stages in early December, filling the top 14 places on the closed-road event. Welsh legends Phil Collins and Howard Davies, running in the Classic division, finished the event more than 90sec clear of the field. Dessie Nutt beat John Keatley in the battle of the Porsches to win the Historic section for the fifth time, while John Farrell/Christy Farrell won the Post-Historic class in their Escort.

John Rondeau/Dennis Greenslade won the second running of the Rally of the Tests in their Jaguar MkII. Thought to be the first such win for a Jag saloon, they were clear winners when the event finished in Bath. In second place was the Minivan (!) of Peter Barker, who passed Robin Eyre-Maunsell’s Sunbeam Rapier on the last of 32 timed tests on this two-day event.
