Saul forces his P3 up to P1

Pre-War Sports Car Series

The Motor Racing Legends series of races was the focus of attention for Pre-War Sports Cars.

Roger Saul’s sublime Alfa Romeo P3 was peerless at Donington and Oporto, with GT racer Calum Lockie partnering the car’s owner to double wins. In Portugal they had to complete the race in top gear after selection problems, but the tractable Alfa coped superbly.

The Talbot 105 of Jon Ruston claimed the other two races in the expert hands of Gareth Burnett. Horribly wet conditions hit the Silverstone race as Burnett came out ahead after Ruston’s Alta. driven by James Diffey, lost out during a safety-car period. At Spa Diffey and Patrick Blakeney-Edwards took the fight to Burnett but were forced out with back-axle problems.
