Another Accolade For Rover

Last month we referred to the top praise bestowed on the Rover 2000 by the American magazine Road Test. Now we see that another American journal, Car & Driver, has held a readers’ poll in which the Rover 2000TC topped what American car buyers call the Sports Sedan class, by a clear 10.7 per cent. Commenting on this the journal concerned says: “The Rover 2000TC is another one of C/D’s all-time favourite cars. When it first came on the market it was about the only sports sedan worth the title. Now both foreign and domestic manufacturers have leaped into the market with both feet, but the Rover just keeps on rolling along, picking up awards as it goes. This year the 2000TC garnered a quarter of the total votes cast—against such stiff competition as the B.M.W. 2000TI and Tilux, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Super and Detroit’s leading contender, the Dodge Dart GTS.”
