Undercover

Sir,

On January 19th 1976 I took delivery of a Range Rover and after numerous ‘phone calls and letters I got my “Supercover” some six months later. To be fair to British Leyland it was for 12 months from date of issue to expire on July 31st, 1977, and was accompanied by a voucher which should be paid within approximately four weeks in order to extend the “Supercover” till July 31st, 1978. The amount was about £90 for the year.

In January this year I was told by my British Leyland dealer that my warranty had expired and the “Supercover” consisted of AA membership until July 1st 1977. I contacted British Leyland at Coventry and they confirmed that my warranty had run out and that “Supercover” consisted of AA membership. If I had taken advantage of the second year “Supercover” it would have proved to be the most expensive way to join the AA via British Leyland! Please inform your readers.
