Silverstone’s 1000km meeting on May 9 included the first round of a new championship for modified Porsches, the Autofarm Performance Porsche Club GB Challenge. Intended to be inexpensive and fun, the series will comprise five rounds, and may next year include an additional class for “exotic” Porsches. Amateur enthusiasts in the United States have founded the Monoposto Register, whose declared purpose is to preserve, restore, exhibit and race authentic pre-1970 single-seaters. The Register will organise race series for various classes of cars and will sponsor the 1987 North American Formula Junior Championship.
