VSCC Scottish Trial

Far flung for some but a very welcome event in the VSCC calendar, the Scottish Trial was held this year on May 22, at Biggar, Strathclyde. Of the 29 entries, all started and only W Fletcher’s Alvis failed to score full marks at Snaip Hill, but 13 other sections sorted things out. Retirees were limited to T Richardson’s 1934 1.6 Riley and Dr Carr’s 1932 A7 Special.

First Class awards in Class I went to Campbell Cup winner lames Baxter (1929 A7), just a point ahead of Tony May’s 1929 standard A7. The only driver to get one in Class 2, which had only five entries, was Geoff Toms with his 1921 Fiat. Second Class Award winners were Barry Clarke (A7), Dr Gray (A7/1AP) and S Welsh (A7), with Class 1 runners P Longhurst (Riley 9) and 1 Hindle (A7) taking Third Class honours. S Gordon (A7) won the Sammy Davis Cup. W B
