Reunited after 30 years

Tyrell 002 and 004 were back in Europe together for the first time in 30 years last month for the Monaco and Pau street races. Now owned by American enthusiasts John Delane (002) and John Dimmer (004), the cars normally race in the US in Historic GP events.

Tyrrell 002 appeared from the start of the 1971 season and took Francois Cevert to victory in that year’s US Grand Prix; 004 was a spare for Jackie Stewart and was also raced in 1972 by Patrick Depailler.

Before the Monaco historic event, the cars had not been on a grid together in Europe since the 1972 French GP at Clermont-Ferrand.

Dimmer bought 004 as a restoration project at auction and had it rebuilt through 2001 by Pete Lovely Racing.
