Monte Carlo historic gathering warms up the circuit for following weekend’s grand prix

Monaco’s glossy biennial historic meeting drew bigger than ever crowds and a packed entry for its fifth running in May. Among the feature events was the Sunday lunchtime parade of Formula One Ferraris, running from a 625 raced by Alberto Ascari in 1952 to a 2003 car as driven by Rubens Barichello. Jacky Ickx piloted the 312B2 which he himself raced in 1972.

After the auctions which are always an exciting element of the high-profile weekend (see p20) the event concluded with Sunday night’s black-tie gala prizegiving, where competitors received their awards.
