Toselli Killed. the

While practising for the Val de Cuech hill-climb, Frederic Toselli met with a fatal accident. The road had not yet been closed to other traffic, and Toselli had to swerve violently to avoid a small cart. His Bugatti skidded heavily into a rock wall, and was utterly wrecked. The mechanic, Jacques Peltrau, was killed outright and Toselli himself was taken to hospital with a fractured skull and a broken leg. Five days later Toselli passed away in the hospital at Salon. A native of Nice, Frederic Toselli began his motor-racing career a few years ago at the wheel of a 1,500 c.c. Bugatti. In the hill climbs around Nice he built up a reputation for himself of great promise, and this was enhanced by winning the 1,500 c.c. classes of the Grand Prix de

Vaucluse and the Grand Prix du Dauphine in 1931, and the Grand Prix of Nice in 1932.

This year Toselli bought the 2.3 litre Bugatti raced by Chiron during 1932, and he had great hopes of a successful season. French followers of the sport will have the sympathy of all readers of MOTOR SPORT in their loss of a most promising driver.
