Vintage postbag , June 1962

Sir,

Immediately after the 1914-1918 war a large, solid-tyred, chain-driven Kelly was used by a local farmers’ cooperative. I remember this vehicle most vividly by the fact that it was used to draw the local fire engine which, incidentally, was a “manual.” On one occasion, after following on bicycle to a farm about three miles from here, I helped (?) pump. The driver of this nearly-forgotten lorry, incidentally, still drives for the same concern.
